Last year we welcomed 50 musicians, representing 21 different bands, from all over the country. This year we are hoping to reach even more players, representing even more bands, to provide music across more peaks, and to feature more whole bands, alongside our incredible massed band, during our Saturday concert. Rydal Cave is a large cavern on the north side of Loughrigg Fell, above Rydal Water. This famous lakeland beauty spot is actually man-made, as a result of slate quarrying.
Take the stepping stones through the shallow lake at the entrance (you may even see some small fish!) into the drier floor space inside the cave. Remeber to take your torch so you can see where you are stepping.
A varied walk taking in a beautiful tarn, views of the fells, and a grandstand view of Grasmere and Rydal water. Some road walking at the end.
